BankTech Asia and Matchi partner to connect banks from Asia Pacific with the world's best fintech solutions
Following our successful collaboration in 2016, team Matchi is excited to join forces with BankTech Asia again this year. Top of our agenda is to source the BankTech Asia Fin5ive 2017 who will no doubt once again dazzle participating banks from Asia Pacific at the signature multi-streamed conference in Kuala Lumpur from 5-6 July 2017.
Due to high interest in the region from both financial institutions and fintech solution providers, Matchi's Head of Business - Asia, Swati Jindal will also be attending regional BankTech Asia events in Sri Lanka (March), Manila (September) and Jakarta (November) this year.
Starting off with a bang, Swati is heading to BankTech Asia, Sri Lanka which takes place from 21-22 March at Taj Samudra in Colombo. This beautiful island nation populated with 22 million people is often overlooked in the fintech conversation but this hidden gem is filled with vast potential. The local financial services sector is on the fast track to entering a new era of banking with innovative initiatives like augmented reality, digital wallets and the national payments platform.
The BankTech Asia team have identified remittance as one of the core areas ripe for disruption as it makes up 9%-10% of the country’s GDP. Based on the World Bank’s estimate, it is widely believed that 50% of remittances are done through informal channels which have exorbitant fees that can go as high as 10%-15% of the principle.
Another area that was identified for disruption is the digital payments space with only 2% of the population utilising the internet to buy things and pay their bills. There’s tremendous opportunity for incumbent banks or fintech start-ups to become to become dominant this unoccupied space
BankTech Asia is one the longest running fintech and banking technology events in Asia with a golden nine-year track record in keeping bankers and fintech professionals abreast with the latest threats, trends and solutions. http://www.banktechasia.com/
